Aesthetically challenged feet enjoy relaxing times too: a PSA.

Serious topic today. The "I'm relaxing with my feet up" picture. On a beach? Cross your legs and capture the pristine sands and blue waters, with a sneaky little slip of your kicked-back feet at the bottom of the snap. Enjoying a little "me" time a home? Set the snacks and the wine on the ottoman, and kick those feet up there (carefully!), cross them, and snap that totes cazh picture. Chilling on the patio? You know what to do. Throw those feet up on the banister and get that snap of your pedicured piggies and that beautiful sunset! So here's my issue. I like to relax. I like to be at the beach. I like to drink wine and eat snacks alone (not that I get to do that anymore, but I like to). I like to look at sunsets and yards and be on porches with banisters. BUT I HAVE UGLY FEET.  It's extremely sad and unfair.  No one will care that I'm on a beach when they see my skinny finger toes, all long and pale and unpolished. ...

Don't quit on me now! Oops, too late.

So, um, I'm really good at quitting. That's my way to work around my declaration last week that I'd stop bad-mouthing myself. But I mean, it's true. About two months ago (or more) I decided I'd start logging what I eat and what exercise I got (under my I Challenge Me to a Duel tab) in order to hold myself accountable. And it worked. It totally worked. I was getting more exercise and being more mindful of eating heathfully. Until I had a weekend out of town where I failed to log anything and just never started again. Tee-hee--oopsie! I've still gotten some exercise since then, but not nearly as regularly. I did a Jackie Warner workout for upper body after doing nothing but gentle pilates and was sore for nearly a week. Fo' realz. But still, it turns out I really did need the threat of someone, anyone, catching that I haven't followed through to hold myself accountable. So here's what I'm-a gonna do: Nothing. I'm going to let that...

New blog. Same old Boring.

No one has asked about it. So, naturally, I assume you're all secretly DYING TO KNOW about the new tab at the top of the page, I Challenge Me to a Duel, and you're just too darn shy to ask me about it. Silly Goose! You can ask me anything! Or, you didn't even notice/care. Either way, I'm here to let you know that I'm keeping a separate blog over there about my diet and exercise. My child is nearly 6 months old now and the old muffin top  doughnut top is threatening to become a permanent fixture. It's all, "Hey, I'm here to stay!" And I'm all, "No! Go away!" And it's all, "But you aren't making me go away. Nyah, nyah!" And I'm all, "Oh yeah? Well watch this!" It took me roughly 3.7 seconds to come up with the name I Challenge Me to a Duel because I'm my own worst enemy (aren't we all) and so I'm having to fight my own lazy nature in order to kick things into gear and get mysel...

I didn't work out today because...

Image
Based on the amazing response I got to yesterday's blog post (I think zero of you commented that you'd love me to track my diet and exercise--wow!!!), I decided I would share why I didn't work out today. I didn't work out today because... Because it's all Patrick's fault. (Isn't is always, honey? Aww, I love you.) After I hit snooze 4 times, I turned my alarm off knowing I'd get up when he did around 6:00. But then he turned his alarm off and went back to bed!! So I didn't get up until 6:20 which just didn't leave me enough time to exercise this morning. Way to go, Patrick . *eye roll* Bye-bye doughnut! Bye-bye waistline. *sad* On a related note, because I was running late, I didn't have time for breakfast or my second cup o' joe (the horror!). I have a coffee pot at work but no half & half. I virtuously decided to take the stairs six floors down to the cafeteria to get some. It's not my fault they sell Krispy Kr...
